de pinga!
monkey balls! That's what I was really saying when I was trying to tell people I was staying at the the pinango hotel. At the zoo when we were feeding the monkeys Doritos I told the lady that worked there "in the United States we are not allowed to eat the monkeys." of course what I wanted to say was we cant feed the monkeys.
In a restaurant last week I asked if the bill included "servicio" which I thought might mean a tip and it turns out I asked if the bathroom was included. I was interviewing a military guy and I was trying to ask if he liked the work and my friend told me the way I said it sounded like "I'm in love with you." Andy tried to ask a young boy if he like the motorcycles and instead of "moto" he said "mota" so basically he asked the kid if he liked pot. There is never a dull moment with our Spanish.
we are leaving now and this a very rushed update. we have managed to get all our belongings for the next month (camping equipment, books, clothes, small digital camera) into 3 backpacks. we have left lots of things here including the hard drive and laptop. Not sure when we can write next. hopefully we can get some calls out once things are relaxed along the coast. The sign for Merida in LSV are the fists shaking in front of body, the same sign for cold. damn. however compared to hot sunny Caracas 65degrees would be considered cold. Merida is cool at night and sunny and warm in the days. If not, we wont stay long.
Sorry we have not posted more photos. we have thousands, literally on the hard drive. We will try to post some photos of Merida once we settle in.
for those we wont be able to phone,
Feliz Navidad
much love
funny addition.... we are rushing to leave and catch our bus for Valencia for tonight. Somehow andy managed to put zarhas hairbrush in the dishwasher, yes dishwasher, during this process. This really confused our Venezuelan parents.
We leave our stable home for the road. ciao amours
